8pm: Harold Timms

item6

Harold Timms' musical journey has taken him from from 70's classic rock and fusion to native-American ambient improvizations to experimental and world music to classical composing to new-age, finger-style guitar. He graduated from Georgia Tech in 1980, taught guitar, bass, drums and keyboards for 16 years.

Releasing his first album in 1989, he found his musical voice in 1992 with Directions & Misdirections - Music for Acoustic Guitar & Treatments, an album of mostly Acoustic guitar instrumentals using radical alternate tunings/modes ala Michael Hedges, Anthony Phillips, Steve Hackett, and Steve Howe.

Since then, Harold has explored 1) trippy compositions involving guitar, keyboards, bass, and two drummers, 2) experimental loops using echoplex and found sounds, 3) bands with keyboards, guitars, electric mandolin and lap steel, and percussion, 4) improvisations with friend John WinterHawk, a native-American Elder on flute, 5) a dreamy journey of world-beat, sonic explorations, and 6) a double CD of live performances consisting of looped keyboards & guitar with percussion, theremin and sax.

Currently, he is composing and recording all original progressive rock material with a heavy concentration on odd time signatures and polyrhythms for his band "Counts of Odd".

9pm: The Fabric

thefabric08lowres

The Fabric started as a studio project in mid-2004. Songwriter/recording artist Jeremy Frank and vocalist Joe Sikes (both formerly of Atlanta-based rock group ODK ) were seeking to complete a body of work three years in the making. To achieve that goal, they collaborated with Sharaab, Atlanta-based songwriter/producer/DJ.

Working at Maze Studios, the trio proceeded to complete their backlog of songs. Soon the working partnership grew as Sharaab became fully integrated with The Fabric, contributing his elegant production style to refine the well-crafted songwriting of Jeremy and Joe. In addition to producing and remixing the earlier material, the newly-formed band began writing new tracks as well as collaborating on Sharaab's latest album Evolution.

The result of this effort is The Fabric's debut full-length album, titled "Man Vs. Prototype" . The 12 song record encompasses the best that electronic-based music has to offer, with finely textured constructs, nuanced-yet-danceable beats, and heart-rending lyrics. Although arrangements vary from symphonic-fuelled breakbeats to delicate ambient excursions, The Fabric never breaks from the emotionally charged songwriting at its core, recalling the height of 80's synth-pop bands without ever reverting to retro-hysterics, like so many of their contemporaries.

10pm: Indigovox

picture74

Indigovox is electronic music that will put you in a trance and get you dancing at the same time, but that barely begins to describe IndigoVox's robotic sound. With a weirdness that resembles the Brazilian Girls, IndigoVox is a solo artist and creates the dreamlike music all on her own. Experiencing the mind-expanding beats of IndigoVox will be a concert that is hard to get out of your head - no strobe lights needed.

11pm: reklein

reklein

reklein came about in 2004 first as a record label. it was formed to bring a group of friends together under one umbrella. though their styles differed greatly, they all shared a love for electronic music. this never panned out and reklein went to the wayside until now. 2 of the friends/musicians, hans grubb and andrew velker, decided to work on a new project and try to fit their 2 styles together. since this fit so closely with what was trying to be done before, they decided to stick with the same moniker.

hans grubb and andrew velker have been making music for over 9 years, and worked on projects together off and on (nimbus and have recently been featured on each others works nurv/recode (walking on water, cambric, roane, dancing shadows). together they bring the best of both worlds. with hans' ability of abstract arrangements, and detailed drum and glitch programming to andrew's ambient, moody texture based electronic feel. together they provide a great listening experience.

This show is also reklein's new CD release party.
